"Red Shift"

"Red Shift" is a shallow bowl, or 3 inch deep platter, made from over 500 individual pieces of glass, cut, assembled, fused, cold worked, and slumped.

This piece displays well in a stand. The vibrant complementary colors brighten up any space.

This close-up shows the detail of the murrine pieces and the subtly different shades of red stripes.

The "matte" textured finish, which reduces reflected glare, was accomplished with careful cold working and precise temperature control during the slumping phase.
